Hmm. About half of my earlier comments got cut off (perhaps a length limit), so I'll write a shorter do-over of the main points.

- Yes, this project will include material from Spider-Man: Back in Black Handbook, Mystic Arcana: The Book of Marvel Magic, Mighty Avengers: Most Wanted Files, World War Hulk: Gamma Files, Marvel Zombies: The Book of Angels, Demons

>Finally, is the first thing that comes to mind.

No argument there.

>In February of 2008, Marvel will release the first >volume (of 12) collecting all of the entries from the >2004-2007 All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel >Universe.

Not just the material from our All-New OHOTMU books, but also material from just about every OHOTMU-ish book of the past few years.

Notable exceptions: we won't be reprinting the Ultimate handbooks (featuring characters from the Ultimate universe), nor most of the Age of Apocalypse handbook (though select characters from same will turn up).

These omissions stem largely from space limitations, though they also reflect the fact that some of this stuff (like the Ultimates and most of the AoA characters) is somewhat set apart from the mainsteam Marvel universe.

>Details are still sparse and I’m only going on what the >advanced solicitation copy says.

One thing not really mentioned in the highlighted solicitation excerpt is the fact that these hardcovers will feature tons of new and updated material, not just reprints of the existing profiles. Many characters will get extensive revisions or expansions or both, and many more will get minor updates, modifications and corrections.

>The big question I have for this hardcover collection >is…does it contain the other “guide books” that use the >Marvel Handbook format, but were not branded as such.

Most of them, yes.

>For example, will it include the Spider-Man: Back in >Black Handbook (April 2007), Mystic Arcana: The Book >of Marvel Magic (May 2007), The Mighty Avengers: Most >Wanted Files (June 2007), World War Hulk: Gamma Files >(August 2007), Marvel Zombies: The Book of Angels, >Demons,
