Found this ad in the back of an old comic while looking up content for a another post. Not sure what’s the funniest thing about this ad.

1. The fact that you could send away a coupon from a comic and get a monkey.

2. The text accompanying the ad:

Darling Pet Monkey $18.95

This Squirrel Monkey makes an adorable pet and amusing companion. Show it affection and enjoy its company. Almost human with its warm eyes, your family will love it. The YOUNG monkeys grow about 12 inches high. Eats same food as you do (even likes lolipops); simple to care for and train. FREE cage, FREE leather collar & leash, monkey toy, and instructions included. Live delivery guaranteed. Only $18.95 express collect.

I have trouble believing that this was legitimate.

Simpsons Treehouse of Horror

// October 29th, 2008 // No Comments » // Cartoons

It’s almost Halloween and that means it’s time for another Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror episode. Although I haven’t watched the Simpsons regularly in years, I always watch the Treehouse of Horror of episodes. I’ve recorded everyone and each year I update my DVD (now 4 DVDs) with the newest episode. While they’re not as good as they used to be, each one usually has a few classis moments. Here are two of my favorites:

Venture Brothers Season 3 Preview

// April 21st, 2008 // No Comments » // Cartoons

Bootleg footage of the Venture Brothers Season 3 preview (from the Venture Bros. panel at NY Comic Con) is floating around the ‘Net. I can’t wait until June to see new episodes of this show. Watch the preview footage and enjoy.

Venture Brothers Returns June 1

Doc Venture in Trouble?

Mark your calendars for June 1st. Venture Brothers’ co-creator Jackson Publick announced that Season 3 of the Venture Brothers will premier on June 1. In less than 2 months we’ll finally have more episodes of what I consider to be one of the greatest cartoons ever.

Publick also announced that work is already underway on a Season 3 DVD set and scripts are being written for Season 4. I would expect Season 3 to be slightly more ambitious plot wise, since the creators know that they have another season to follow up.

Wolverine and the X-Men Preview

Wolverine and the X-Men Promo Image

I had heard about this cartoon and think I posted the teaser image before, but this is the first footage I’ve seen. Looks like another alternative take on the X-Men. While it’s cool there’s another X-Men cartoon in the works, this one doesn’t look different enough to stand out. Why make another? What’s it going to show that the other two incarnations didn’t. Yes, there’s no Professor X and Wolverine looks to be the focus, but other than that, it looks to visually similar to the X-Men Evolution cartoon.

I’ll still watch it.

The preview is gone, hope you saw it when it was there. Seems like the company got into a little trouble over using some unauthorized Foo Fighters music in the video. Oops.

Friends Meets SuperFriends

Probably the one of the best segments ever on the show Friends has been combined with one of my favorite cartoons ever.

Classic Transformers in CGI

// January 31st, 2008 // No Comments » // Cartoons

Hasbro has posted a clip on their site which features a classic battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron – only it’s rendered in CGI. It looks like a video game cut-scene, but the quality is top-notch. I would love to see whole episodes done like this.

ventureSeason3Cast

Venture Brothers creator Jackson Publick has released a Season 3 “cast photo” featuring many of the characters that will appear in the first 2/3 of Season 3′s episodes. Just looking at all of the odd characters makes me excited for Season 3. Can’t wait.

As a bonus, if you can answer the following 2 questions correctly, you could win a prize. Just leave a comment on the Publick Nuisance – Holiday Gift Bonanza!!! post.

1. Which of these characters, if any, does this room actually belong to?
2. There are three famous, non-fictional people in the picture. Name all three.

A Venture Brothers Christmas

Christmas has come and gone and I hope everyone had a merry one, but it’s still not too late for a little Christmas nugget of fun.

Every year AstroBase Go (Jackson Publick & Doc Hammer) produce a Venture Brothers related Christmas MP3. They’re always great and this year’s song is no exception. Visit QuickStopEntertainment.com to hear the Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend sing “Fairytale of New York” and check out the archived links of previous years tunes. The 2006 “Venture Aid” is still the best.

Wonder Twins Face the Truth

After years and years, the Woner Twins finally (well, Zan anyway) faces the cold, hard truth about his powers.
