I had been friends with author Alethea Kontis for many years and sometime before her second children’s book AlphaOops! H is for Halloween, an offhand comment about her website led to a redesign of her existing site while moving it to a self-hosted WordPress install. She provided a few pieces of artwork which was used in styling the site. Several custom page templates were design to showcase her various published works.

Alethea wanted it to easy for readers to contact her, so I created a custom email function that is dynamically loaded in the sidebar, while the validation looks like it’s done with javascript/jQuery, it’s actually done with PHP and echoed back to the page. Also of note, the sidebar contains a user updated events calendar, photos loaded from Picasa, and a Lifestream featuring her Twitter posts and content from other social sites as well.
