The first images from The Road based on the book by Cormac McCarthy have hit the web. Check them out over at /Film. Awesome looking, can’t wait to see this.

This post is all about revelations. In one blog post I discovered three things relating to Star Wars I didn’t know.

1. I had no idea there was an “official’ StarWars.com blog. It’s surprisingly good and filled with fun and quirky Star Wars/Lucas related content. RSS Added!
2. While you’re at the Star Wars blog site, be sure to check their Flickr page as well. It’s full of great photos (over 1,200) and there are some gems hidden in there. This particular “Vader Project” entry cracks me up. 
3. It’s sad how far Star Wars and Lucasfilm will go to promote their characters now. On Monday, April 28, many characters will appear on the NBC show Deal or No Deal. Darth Vader will be the banker, the models will wear Slave Leia costumes, and Chewbacca and R2-D2 will also appear. If you’re going to allow this, then it’s time to release the Star Wars Christmas Special on DVD.

I’ve always considered myself a Star Wars fan (even a fanatic). As I’ve grown older, I’ve grown out of it to an extent. The new movies didn’t fascinate me as much and I only occasionally read some of the novels. I think the lack of original content caused me to go elsewhere (comic books) and the lack of depth in the content cemented the passing of the torch to comics. With all the various publishers, writers and creators out there, the amount and variety (horror, sci-fi, heroes, real life, etc.) out there is hard to compete with.

Still, I’ll always be willing to sit and watch or read Star Wars if I’m in the mood. Carter and I will be in the theater opening weekend for the Clone Wars cartoon movie and I’m sure we’ll watch the cartoon and upcoming live action show and not miss an episode.

I just hope they’re good.

Be careful if you visit Forget the Film, Watch the Titles. You might find yourself watching all of the great collections of film title sequences they have.

Split into categories, such as: Animation, Motion Graphics, Mixed Media and 3D, the site offers up tons of content one place. It’s a worthy and eclectic collection and not focused on classic films. Many films in the gallery are bad, but as the site professes, a bad film can still have a great title sequence.

Warning: The above film contains Zombie Violence. Someone’s gone and made a Marvel Zombies fan-film–and it’s pretty good.

Zombies are all the rage and Marvel has been riding that wave with their insanely popular series Marvel Zombies. The first series went through several printings. It was followed by a Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness series and Marvel Zombies 2 is currently running. They even released a collected edition of all of the covers from the series.

The fan film was bound to happen and at least it’s really well done. I would actually like to see more. There are rumors circulating that Marvel is going to do a Direct-to-DVD Marvel Zombies animated film. I’d definitely check that out.

As much as I hate to say it. The original series (and the sequel) have both been fun. The Army of Darkness crossover was a little forced, but the two series by Robert Kirkman have been fun, skewed looks into a twisted version of the Marvel Universe. Kirkman has managed to keep the series fresh, which doesn’t seem surprising, since he’s the mastermind behind the amazingly good Zombie series “The Walking Dead” from Image comics.

One of the few series that I’ve collected in trades (they’re up to 7 volumes now). It’s a fresh and fleshed out (no pun intended) look at the zombie genre that not only explores an reality the George Romero dreamed up, but what would happen to the few humans that survived and what they would be willing to do to stay safe. Definitely worth picking up all 7 volumes.

I don’t know that I would call the Cloverfield collector’s edition packaging a “feature” but maybe it will be amazing.

I don’t think the $99 price tag is amazing. That will probably scare anyone but the most die-hard fan away.

Cloverfield is out and was a great success over the weekend. Making almost $50 million, which is a record for a MLK weekend.

With the DVD of the movie months away, many are left wondering what the monster looks like. Unlike Godzilla, or other creature features, the monster has not been revealed in the trailer.

However, a nice article on /film contain several “fan-art” interpretations of the creature. Check all of them out and see which is the best.

Found that image over at ENewsInternational the other day and I thought that it looked awful familiar. I dug out my The Incredible Hulk TV Series DVDs and looked through the intro real quick and turned up these two images.

Kudos go out to Occasional Superheroine for beating me to the punch on posting the relation to the old TV show. I guess they’re really playing the movie as an homage to the TV show, especially since they’re including the “Walking Man” theme. Now, if they’d only include the Disco Version of the Hulk Walking Man theme, there would be no reason not to see the movie.

Nice, new photo of Tony Stark (Robery Downey Jr.) building/testing the later version of the Iron Man armor.

With any superhero flick, the beginnings of its success is based on the visuals. Great story has to be there, but if the visuals (or look) is all wrong, fans won’t show up to check the story out.

Every look at Iron Man seems to be visually 100%.

Speaking of Iron Man, you should definitely check out the Iron Man Fan Film by David Guivant that’s currently over on ScreenRant. Featuring a few Iron Man supporting characters and Avengers teammates, it’s amazingly well done and makes me wish there were a real show like that being developed.

That was my initial thought when I heard about Supermanyi Eodeon Sanayi or (A Man Who Was Superman) over on Geeks of Doom. Way more than a superhero flick, “A Man Who Was Superman” sounds like an intelligent take on the superhero genre, one that resembles nothing I’ve ever seen or read before.

Here’s a part of the description:

While filming, her camera is stolen camera by a thief. The camera is quickly retrieved by a man in a Hawaiian shirt (played by actor Jeong-min Hwang) who claims to be Superman. He explains to Soo-jung that he has been rendered powerless by a villain who placed shards of Kryptonite in his head, but still does good deeds like rescuing lost dogs, persuading a man not to wander about naked in public — and sometimes regains enough power to stand on his head and push the Earth away from a collision course with the Sun.

Definitely one to look for later in 2008, when it makes its way to DVD.

Pretty cool example of the Cloverfield viral marketing kicking into high gear for the movie’s premier on January 18.

Several videos have been found online that “seem” to be news reports from various countries (Spain, Germany) showing the destruction of a Tagruato Oil Rig Platform.
