A New Way to Save Your Comics
I think I see a lot of my comics being stored/save in this way in the future. Similar to the way magazines are bound for the library, comics can be bound together. Library Binding is one company offering this service, starting at $14. Scroll down a bit (on their site) to check out the options you can add to your bound comic collection.
This seems like the perfect way to keep a lot of the sets I own. Many aren’t worth any true amount of money, they hold sentimental and nostalgic value. By binding them I can keep them neatly on a bookshelf and read them anytime I want. Very cool.
Speaking of comic storage, Collection Drawer has just announced their new 18″ storage box. This is the “short” box that many have been waiting on (myself included). Between binding, thinning out and the new 18″ drawer box, I see my collection becoming very manageable.
allaboutduncan – Simpsons Style
Over at The Simpsons Movie Site they’ve got a feature to create a Simpsons Avatar of yourself. After a little tinkering, I can say that mine looks pretty accurate.
Octoboss – The Evolution of the Octopuss
Michael may believe that the Octosquid is the beginning of the end for human civilization, but writer Robert Kirkman predicted it fist in his comic book series Invincible.
Octoboss is a super-villain who has repeatedly attempted to steal radioactive material with the aid of his henchmen, the Squidmen. Knowing Kirkman, Octoboss will eventually pop up again and reveal his master plan, but I couldn’t help but think of the character after reading the other two linked articles. Kirkman has a great knack for creating out-of-this-world characters that could be hokey if done by any other writer, but somehow seem fun and cool in the “Invincible” universe. Read more about Octoboss.
I would imagine reading Invincible now was much like reading the first 130 issues of Amazing Spider-Man, where the readers were hit with so many new and cool ideas that they just kept reading and enjoyed every minute of it.
SuperFriends: Around the World in 80 Riddles
The Riddler sprays Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Robin with a substance which will make them permanently stupid within two hours, if they don’t solve riddles to find an antidote.
