Pretty cool TV Spot for the new Fantastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer movie. Unlike some, I really liked the first film. The effects were good, the film was fun and the Human Torch was awesome. The new one should be more goodness in that vein. With their origin out of the way, we can get to them using their powers immediately. I’m also looking forward to seeing them swap powers (see the commercial). Writer Mark Waid had a story that used something similar to this a few years back in the Fantastic Four comic where Johnny and Sue swapped powers.

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent (Two-Face) in the Dark Knight.

I want to believe in Harvey Dent, but Warner Bros. has messed that up in the past.

I remember the excitement in the fan/comic community when it was revealed that Billy Dee Williams was playing Harvey Dent in the 1989 Tim Burton Batman film. Most Batman fans know that the Joker disfigures district attorney Harvey Dent with acid, causing his face to be horribly scarred and turning him into the villain Two-Face. So, everyone assumed that Two-Face would be in the next Batman movie (Batman Returns) and be played by Williams.

Nope.

They didn’t use Two-Face until the third sequel, Batman Forever, and then the character was portrayed as a Joker rip-off and not the cunning, crime boss he is supposed to be. Even worse, Billy Dee Williams was nowhere to be found and was replaced by Tommy Lee Jones, who I’ll admit, looked visually like the character.

Let’s hope that the Batman Returns sequel (The Dark Knight) will end with the Joker (Heath Ledger) dousing Aaron Eckhart with acid and that the filmmakers bring him back for the third film.

Optimus Prime in the Transformer’s movie by Michael Bay.

Now that’s a movie I want to go see (480p HD Trailer Link).

After a few boring trailers, they finally deliver on the good stuff and I think this preview shows plenty of what the public needs to see, big robots transforming and fighting each other.

Unlike the sequels that dominate the summer (Spider-Man 3, Pirates 3, Shrek 3, Fantastic Four 2), the Transformers are making their first appearance on the big screen. They’re an unknown to a large audience and that audience wants to have an idea of what they’re going to get for their $8 movie ticket. Heck, I grew up watching Transformer and it wasn’t until this trailer that I actually got excited (just watch Optimus transform and tell me you don’t grin when you hear “the sound”).

That’s not to say I don’t have complaints. When the guy at the end says “Bring It!” it makes me want to cringe. But another part of me cracks up at Shia LaBeouf’s line “It’s a big robot, it must be from Japan.” I’ll go in expecting Independence Day and perhaps I won’t be disappointed. How hard can it be to mess up giant robots that transform and beating each other up?

A new site opened today to promote the June 15 release of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Over at F4MovieArcade.com you can currently grab 3 games (with 3 more to come) and embed them in your website, blog, or mySpace page. The coolest thing about them is each one generates unique stats and scores for the site in which it is embedded. So, you can play the game here and have the high score, but if you play it on another site, you’re playing against that site’s players. Cool.

Now, try out some Human Torch action.

FreezeDriedMovies.com has an “exclusive” rumor on the villains for Spider-Man 4. Their source claims that Carnage (yuck), the Lizard, and Black Cat are on deck for the next Spider-Man film.

Our regular scooper tells FreezeDriedMovies that plans are underway for Spider-Man 4, which were (obviously) set up in the third film. In the third entry, Dr. Curt Connors (played by Dylan Baker) looks at a piece of symbiote with Peter Parker. The movie then travels along it’s path without another mention of that “piece” of symbiote. This is the set up for Spider-Man 4 where that small piece of alien symbiote becomes CARNAGE. Yes Cletus Kasady is coming to the big screen, one of Spider-Man most horrifying and evil villains. Not only with Parker have to deal with the red lean mean killing machine, but Connors is set to become the long awaited LIZARD! these two villains have all been CONFIRMED for Spider-Man 4. There is talk of the Black Cat making her first appearance, but that’s all but official.

Aside for my previous thoughts on the status of villain selection, this rumor sounds like nothing more than speculation based on dangling plot points from the previous films. I’ll stick to my guns and say that it’s still way to early to say who will be in Spider-Man 4. You know my thoughts and everyone has their own. If enough people say they know who the villain for Spider-Man 4 will be, a few will actually get it right.

I’ll go on record and say that we’ll see the Lizard and Mysterio in the next movie, thereby practically setting up the Sinister Six for Spider-Man 5
