hahaha

The Dark Knight viral web campaign is in full swing and the reveal of the full body shot of Heath Ledger as the Joker at Empire magazine has happened. What’s left. What’s the viral campaign building too.

The first assumption is a trailer. Aside from the few that attended the panel at the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con, no one has seen any footage from the film. Less that 6 months from release, that’s unbelievable for a release of this magnitude. So a trailer is a given.

What about Harvey Dent. The sites that started all of this months ago (IBelieveInHarveyDent.com and IBeliveInHarveyDentToo.com) are still there, with the content unchanged. The original WhySoSerious.com Pumpkin image decayed into a Two-Face style Jack-O-Lantern. Maybe that’s what we’re building up a too. The reveal of Two-Face. It may be in a trailer or in an image, but I feel like this build-up needs to lead to something new and unexpected. Something more than a trailer. I’d be satisfied with Two-Face.

Cloverfield Monster

Well, not really, but you can actually see a split-second glimpse of something in the newly released trailer.

Browsing Michael’s comments, I found a few more interesting links regarding the creature.

This creature mock up image, mirrors some of the details leaked. This means the details were either accurate or the image was created based on the details.

This video, loops the footage I pulled the screen-shot from.

Regardless, I’m excited to see the film. It’s an interesting concept, by a creator I like. Having said that, the LOST Missing Pieces shorts are somewhat disappointing, so far. The first with Jack was interesting, but the second one (with Hurley) felt like a Saturday Night Live skit that was going nowhere.

Kung-Fu Rodeo has a great post going (which links to the original TechRepublic Post) on when Star Wars went to crap.

KFR lists the modification of Mos Eisley in the Special Editions. That didn’t bother me as much as Greedo shooting at Han first. As painful as that was, it still didn’t ruin the series for me. Shortly after that scene, when Han steps on the newly CGI Jabba’s tail, that was the foreshadowing to the end.

In Episode I, JarJar defines when Star Wars went to crap (or when Lucas lost his focus). Additions here and there are fine, but the addition of the comic-relief only JarJar was the final straw. Every moment he was on screen was painful. When he later steps in the animal poop, I knew the movie was not for me.

It still has fun moments (Darth Maul and the Pod Race), but it was aimed at luring in new viewers (kids) and rather than rely on the great sci-fi/fantasy that lured everyone in back in 1977, Lucas went with a more Disney/potty humor route.

Anyone else care to comment on when they think Star Wars went to crap?

This is an image that I found posted over at my [confined] space. I so wish that were a real poster. Not sure who the original author of the image is, since it looks like a Photoshop of the existing posters, blended with a few more images. I do have to agree with one of the comments on the site. Obi-Wan (Alec Guiness) should have been included. Maybe LucasFilm will see it and release something officially. I’ve always been a big Star Wars fan and this is a poster I would buy. Larger sized image at my [confined] space.

New Joker Photo from WhySoSerious.com

Back before Halloween, I posted a link to WhySoSerious.com and wondered what would be revealed when Halloween arrived.

The Internet was abuzz when it turned out to be a location based puzzle that revealed a message. Everyone was expecting the first trailer for The Dark Knight… Instead, we got another picture of Heath Ledger as the Joker and at least two more weeks to wait.

Digging around will lead you to RorysDeathKiss and another viral campaign for others to upload photos of themselves dressed as the Joker. It’s sort of cool looking at all the photos, but the burning candle/rotting pumpkin had me excited, now I’m just interested to see what happens.

SlashFilm had a good writeup of the site and the events that followed on Oct. 31. Just read here and here.
