When last we saw Indy, he was riding off into the sunset in 1989’s The Last Crusade, set in 1938 near the start of World War II. The new movie, due this spring, is set at the height of the Cold War in 1957, so the character has aged in real time — 19 years.
“He’s teaching and having kind of a quiet life,†the producer says. Once the archaeologist is thrust back into danger, the signature Indiana Jones red line tracing across the map will take him to New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City and the jungles of Peru.
The Nazis are no longer Indy’s chief foe — he’s racing for the Crystal Skull against operatives from the Soviet Union, including Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as the seductive Agent Spalko. “Indy always has a love-hate relationship with every woman he ever comes in contact with,†Marshall says.
Ray Winstone, currently the star of Beowulf, co-stars as an unethical rival archaeologist. Transformers star Shia LaBeouf sports greaser hair and rides a motorcycle as the hero’s sidekick.
The artifact of the title is inspired by real quartz sculptures of disputed origins that are carved in a way that defies the natural structure of the crystal.
“The theory is they are shaped by higher powers or alien powers or came from another world, or an ancient Mayan civilization had the powers,†Marshall says.
I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much for this film. It hold a special memory for me, much like Star Wars. We all know the Star Wars prequels were disappointing (different levels for different people).
Everything about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull points to the same thing. Multiple scripts, George Lucas, Indy has a son. However, that poster just makes it all go away, at least for a moment.
Hulk and Devil Dinosaur Cover
Here, you can see that Carter and I were attempting to recreate the cover to the MARVEL MONSTERS: DEVIL DINOSAUR special that Marvel Comics put out a few years ago. I think we did pretty good, especially that Hulk.

Spider-Man By Carter
It’s plain to see that this is a drawing of Spider-Man. If the red and blue doesn’t give it away, the webs coming from his hands should. Awesome!
He’s made such an improvement in coloring and drawing in just a few weeks. Suddenly he’s attempting to draw faces and characters and coloring almost completely inside the lines. We try to color or draw at least a few times a week.
Slusho! and Cloverfield Viral Sites
Slusho! just released a new commercial and as I was digging around the Slusho! site, I searched for some of the other names and terms I saw. It turns out there is a huge viral campaign, very similar to what’s happening for the Dark Knight, for Cloverfield.
Digging around all of the sites, you start to get an idea about the Cloverfield movie and what it may all be about. It all seems very Godzilla like to me (which isn’t a bad thing).
Scientist discover a new (and tasty) organism underwater and begin to experiment and develop things with it. A trigger such as this could easily mutate something (maybe a whale – mentioned many times on the Slusho! site) to gigantic proportions. The organisms within the Slusho! drink –which must remain frozen to stay fresh– could have disastrous effects after long term gestation in a person (the exploding person in the Cloverfield trailer). I managed to find the following sites that are all related to Cloverfield:

After I had done a lot of digging, I stumbled upon ProjectCloverfield.com, which has done a great job of logging and following all the viral clues. Definitely a site to keep up with, at least until the film comes out.
