Jeff Bridge’s will play villain Obadiah Stane in the 2008 Iron Man movieYou don’t have to wait. Apple has released the online version of the Iron Man trailer more than a day early. It’s a great two minute clip. It shows the genesis and personality of Tony Stark (Iron Man), shows multiple versions of the armor in great detail, and even shows a quick glimpse of the villain Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger, played by Jeff Bridges.

Jeff Bridges in the Iron Monger armor from the 2008 Iron Man movie

That’s definitely Bridges in the over-sized Iron Monger armor in that image from the trailer. Obadiah Stane was a businessman who overthrew Tony Stark’s company and later tried to destroy Stark. A lot of people were expecting the Mandarin as the villain, but Stane makes a much better introductory villain in my opinion. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Mandarin make an appearance in the new film as a setup for a sequel, since the character is currently receiving a lot of attention in the comics.

The other day I ran across a CD of music from the Incredible Hulk TV Series from 1977. It’s got the classic intro and the unforgettable end credit theme (the Lonely Man theme). However, tucked away as track 18, could be quite possibly the greatest song I’ve heard in quite some time. I’m referring to the Disco Version of the Hulk Theme and Lonely Man Theme. So, get out your roller skates and bell-bottom pants and enjoy.

Hulk Disco Theme

Wow! How cool is that (assuming it’s still there). Four minutes of footage were shown at San Diego Comic Con this past weekend and even the crappy bootleg copy looks amazing. Iron Man kicking ass to Black Sabbath’s Iron Man is about as perfect as it can get. The feel and the energy for this preview as spot on perfect. This is officially the movie I can’t wait to see next year.

The Ultimate Nick fury character was visually based on Samuel Jackson

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Samuel Jackson is shooting a cameo as Nick Fury in the Iron Man movie. If this is true, then I hope it’s a setup for many more cameos and future roles to come.

In Marvel’s Ultimate line of comics, Nick Fury (who is based on Jackson) has dealt with nearly every hero/team in the Universe. He formed the Avengers team of that universe (named the Ultimates). With Marvel producing and developing Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and others in house, let’s hope these links continue to build toward something practically unseen of in the movie world.
