Top 10 Possible Spider-Man 4 Villains

Spider-Man 3 is almost here and we know that Sandman and Venom will be the villains of the film. The first two films in the franchise featured the Green Goblin and Doc Ock. With four classis Spidey villains out of the way, just who does that leave for Spider-Man 4 and beyond? Let’s take a look at the Top 10 Possible Spider-Man 4 Villains:

  1. Lizard

    The Lizard seems to be the logical choice for the next film. We’ve seen Kurt Connors (the Lizard’s alter ego) in the other films and from the previews for Spider-Man 3, he has at least a few lines. Having said that, he would be a very problematic character to bring to the screen. The original incarnation of the character as a semi-smart, man-lizard isn’t as threatening as the late 90’s portrayal, where he was more dinosaur like. Regardless, the visual appeal of the character and his continued presence in the films means he’s a likely choice.

  2. Electro

    Don’t let the cheesy costume fool you. Electro is a powerfl villain and would that would be a cool addition to the Spider-Man film universe. I know you can’t have the lightning bolts coming out of your head in a movie, so look for the blue-electrical version of Electro from the Ultimate line of Spider-Man comics to make his way to theaters.

  3. Mysterio

    It was rumored that Bruce Campbell would make a cameo in Spider-Man 3 as Mysterio alter-ego Quentin Beck, but I’ve not heard anything else to confirm this. Play him right and Mysterio could be a cool villain. Use his failed movie effects background and really play up the “virtual” creations that he can create. Not sure if he’s ready for prime time or not. He would be a great team player.

  4. Rhino

    Even more of a thung than Sandman, the Rhino is Spider-Man’s equivalent to the Juggernaut. The character would have to be huge and completely dwarf Spider-Man to work. Anything less, would be silly. Look to Ultimate Spider-Man and the recent Rhino toy from the Spider-Man 3 line for a visual that might work better in the film universe.

  5. Scorpion

    This character has a lot of potential. Mac Gargan was bonded to the Scorpion suit and sent to kill Spider-Man when J. Jonah Jameson paid him to test the process, after Gargan had unsuccessfully tried to investigate how Peter Parker managed to take so many excellent photos of Spider-Man. Go ahead and add Spencer Smythe and the Spider-Slayer robots (also funded by Jameson) and you’ve got a set of villains for the entire film, all stemming from Jameson’s hatred of Spider-Man.

  6. Vulture

    Another second-rate villain that deserves a starring role. I doubt the geriatric version would be used, but instead the rejuvinated and younger Adriam Toombs would make it to the silver-screen. Having said that, I think the older version would be more interesting, character wise. I’m not sure how much mileage you could get from a character that lists flying as his only power.

  7. Black Cat

    Felicia Hardy would be a great addition to the Spider-Man film series. This cat-burglar reforms her villainous ways after falling in love with Spider-Man. With the addition of Gwen Stacy to Spider-Man 3, it seems like the film series is adding some romantic tension. If both Mary Jane and Gwen make it out of Spider-Man 3 alive, then the Black Cat would be unnecessary. Even though she’s technically not a villain, there’s no denying the potential this character has.

  8. Hobgoblin

    Why is one of my all time favorite Spider-Man villains this low on the list? It’s simple, the character’s already been done. With the horrible Mighty Morphin’ Green Goblin from the first film and the Harry Osbourne “New Goblin” in Spider-Man 3, it would be a retread concept and visaully, wouldn’t look anywhere as cool as the comic book counter-part does.

  9. Chameleon

    This disguise wearing, espionage master would be an interesting villain in a Captain America movie or as part of a group of villains. He’s just not visually appealing or powerful enough to warrant a star turn in a film. While his “powers” would be a great story device, they don’t pack enough punch to out-do Doc Ock, Sandman, or Venom. Interestingly enough, early rumors had Topher Grace playing the Chameleon and integrating himself into Mary Jane’s life as Peter Parker.

  10. Jackal

    I know, most of you will be thinking “who is this mook” and you’d be right. Professor Miles Warren isn’t a popular Spider-Man villain. After the horribly bad Clone Saga storyline from the comics in the late 90’s, most fans would rather not hear his name again. However, if you were to take this character and blend it with the Clone Saga storyline that writer Brian Michael Bendis recently wrapped up in the Ultimate Spider-Man title, you’d have a great, great story. There were several great characters intoduced and lasting changes to the Spider-Man mythos were introduced.

Everyone may have a favorite that I left out. I almost put Kraven the Hunter on the list, but passed. He’s just too one-dimensional for me, although “Kraven’s Last Hunt” from the 80’s is one of the best Spidey stories you’ll ever read.

I would personally love to see the Sinister Six in the next film. This group of Spider-Man villains has (on occasion) been comprised of many of the villains listed above. Several of my picks aren’t really a huge challenge for Spider-Man on their own, but as a group, it’s a different story. Get a good writer to connect a few of these characters and have him face them one at a time in the Spider-Man 4.

Heck, start the film off with him battling Electro. This far into the franchise, the audience could believe that other villains have menaced Spidey, not every one needs a per
sonal theme or connection to him. Heck, if Venom or Sandman make it out of Spider-Man 3 alive, have them gather up the group and go looking for revenge.

  1. i would like lizard and rhino to be in the fourth movie and maybe carnage , but the sm3 was stupid with three villians it was 2 crazy – so if they could fit it all together smartly and wisely than yes it wood be cool also i think it should still be 2 villians !!

  4. What about the villain Carnage? I have read hints that Carnage may be in the 4th movie. MJ is in it right? Because apparently Kirsten Dunst didn’t want to do it unless James Franco was in it which seemed impossible since his character has died.

  5. listen you guys, i liked venom too,but if sam raimi directs part 4, there will be no venom,no carnage, no anything to do with the symbiote. i know this because i read all the articles about what mr. raimi said about it. some of you are forgetting a villain who could make it to part 4. remember that mj left john jameson at the alter in part 2. john jameson could possibly become manwolf at the beginning of part 4 and get his revenge for what mj did to him by attacking peter. because sandman was awesome, he could come and team up with spiderman to help defeat hydroman,and of course we all mostly say that its gonna be the lizzard. these are my thoughts about what could happen and it makes alot of sense. i think the symbiote could be back in the story somewhere close to the end of part 4 and all about it in part 5.

  9. I`d choose Carnage, Lizard, Electro, and Mysterio for the fourth film because these villains are super powerful and could make it so freaking awesome! And I also think they should put Sandman on Spiderman`s side because Sandman and Spiderman aren`t really enemies and Sandman still isn`t dead. That would probably make it even better. If they put only Carnage and Lizard, it wouldn`t make it totally insane like this current franchise.

  11. Who thinks they should have kraven. It would be cool and work with with kraven and lizard in the one film. And i agree with scorpion having alot of potential cause he does. I also think that a air battle with vulture and spidy would be visually fantastic. If done right. But i think hes got it wrong on the last 2 villains ever making it to the big screen. Their just not popular enough, And only known by the fans of the comics. And they wont put in hobgoblin even though that would be cool. And man you must be on drugs or somthing cause you left out shocker, carnage and kraven.

SM 5: Black Cat,Clones, Jackal, Kaine, Parker’s Parents ?, Kraven the Hunter and Chameleon (Norman Osborn alive?). SM 6: Mysterio, Hobgoblin/Jack’O Lantern and Sinister Six(Mysterio-main antagonist). SM(The Final)-The Return of Green Goblin:Norman Osborn, Hobgoblin, Spider-woman( IV the fan girl of Spider-man), the characters of return of Norman Osborn and Black Tarantula sagas. Spider/Venom: Carnage, Scream, Scorpion, Shocker, Rhino, Doppelganger, Demogoblin, Shiek, The Live Foundation, Civl War symbiotes(the cene), Anti-Venom and Brock’s Cancer(not fim, but serie).

  29. I am going for spider man4 with black cat as a hero and carnage,venom,lizard. And at the last 10 minutes of the game have norman osbourn come back to life like in the comics.I am also on a team that is creating a game called GOBLIN in which you start out as harry trying to find out the truth of his fathers murder by spiderman at first he is in his fathers suit and then after the first mission he goes and gets his suit. I wont tell you a lot about it but its awsome Also there will be choices made during the game which will determine the missions at the end. ITs set to come out late 2012. BUt i will give you a hint to what villians are in it….first spiderman of course but then a few gangs like the arachnids. And you run oscorp of coursee creating your weapons and training.

  35. first off i think we can rule out carnage being in the 4th spidey movie, let me remind you all that cletus kasady aka carnage is a sick psychopathic individual and would have to be sooo toned down (jus look what they did to venom!!) that there would be no point in him being in the damn movie!!(maybe one for marvel knights who brought us punisher:warzone). as for other would-be SM4 villans, lizard, scorpion & electro are all very high possibilitys and it would be pretty cool to see any or all of em in the same movie.

  36. VENOM WAS ONLY MISHANDLED BECAUSE NEITHER HIM OR SANDMAN FIT WELL IN A TEAM OF 3 VILLAINS!!!!!!!!!! So the scriptwiter HAD TROUBLE COMING UP WITH A GREAT STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And just cuz Carnage is a sick sychopath doesn`t mean his character would have to be treated with the same medicine used on Venom if he was PG-13 rated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It`s really the way they WRITE it, it doesn`t depend on how powerful the character is, they had to make Sandman and Venom team up cuz Sandman is still part of the story. It just takes more genius writers to come up with a great plotting and it just takes time to see how the design and shots work. And it also depends on if they think it`s worth the work. SAM CAN`T HATE THEM, CAN HE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD HE CARE IN PARTICULAR WHAT THE VILLAIN IS, I FIND THAT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE FOR A DIRECTOR ROLLING IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA CREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   37. I reckon it would be a great idea to cast the Lizard in Spider-Man 4, considering his alter-ego was featured in the last few films. If they were to cast Dylan Baker as the Lizard, they should make a few changes. 1. Less intelligence, 2. No clothing (wrecked during transformation), 3. More of a Lizard-like appearance, and 4. More savage. If they were to include a few changes like that, then that would make the Lizard a pretty hard bastard, and that’s what you want for a villain, don’t you?

  38. I personally would like to see Electro in the next film, considering how hard a bastard he can turn out to be. If they were to feature this character, as a side villain, or possibly the main villain, then they’ll have to make some pretty big changes to this character’s appearance. Electro, from what he looks like in the picture above does not look as hard a bastard than he really is. He looks like a real dope, which is why it will be completely necessary for the film industry to make those changes.

  39. I wouldn’t like to see the Vulture, nor Rhino in any of the Spider-Man films because, on my opinion, those villains are just plain ridiculous. Although the Rhino possesses a lot of strength and speed, and is a real nasty piece of work for Spider-Man to deal with, it would look really stupid to see a big man in a rhino costume on screen. Perhaps, if they were to feature the Rhino, they should cast the Ultimate Spider-Man version, and make him a robot. Now, that would work so much better.

    As for the Vulture, it would be absolutely ridiculous to see an elderly person with wings on screen, because people of that age just don’t have the energy compared to the youth. I think it would work a lot better if they were to cast Adrian Toomes as a young man, which will make so much sense about the character. From what I know, in real life, it is impossible to be able to glide at such distances with a pair of feathered wings attached to your arms, because they are not thick enough, and they would need to be really wide, like a hang glider. If they were to cast the Vulture as one of the villains, possibly a side villain, then they’ll have to make a lot of drastic changes to this character, in order to make the Vulture look a lot more realistic than that of the comic books and TV episodes.

    Now, Mysterio would be quite a kick-arse villain, considering his ability to cast illusions, as a way of framing his enemies. Aside from the sort of cheesy touch to his appearance, such as the fish ball head, purple cape etc, Mysterio would be an ideal character to cast as the main antagonist in a Spider-Man film. Like what he said, if you play him right, Mysterio could be a cool villain. From what I found out, the character, Mysterio is sort of reminiscent to the Riddler from Batman, due to his ability to leave clues, cast illusions, and to make his enemies look stupid. Now, I would actually like to see Mysterio in the next movie.

  46. What they could have done with Spider-Man 3 was introduce the Sinister Six, that would’ve kicked arse. At the end of Spiderman 2, Harry finds out that Peter Parker is actually Spider-Man, and he begins to plot his revenge. My idea for Spider-Man 3 was that the film was based around Harry’s revenge on Peter. One of the scenes could have been the wedding of Peter and Mary Jane, and then Harry, as the New Goblin attacks them at the wedding, but fails to kill Peter.

    Annoyed at his failure to kill his best friend, Harry contacts several other villains, consisting of Sandman, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Scorpion and the Shocker, to form the Sinister Six. As a group, under the leadership of Harry, their main goal is to eliminate Spider-Man.

    That would’ve been pretty damn cool, on my opinion.

  47. Not all these villains would be in this movie. i’m hoping rhino will be in. Lizard would definetly be in. And carnage would maybe as well. I also wanted craven the hunter to join with rhino
